Brink

The final grain of sand
clings to the smooth shoulder
of the hourglass
as if to halt time
or to make it beg

Lately that’s how life feels

It takes courage to defy gravity
but a grain of sand perched alone
can’t feel the power of community
or the velocity of a stone

  1. Join the poet communities. This little grain of sand is going to attach herself to a wet suit and commune with the ocean. Bloody hot here. See ya kiddo!

  2. You express very delicately the courage it takes for one to defy the crowd. I like the time reference.
